The Small Live Desk Most Bands Actually Need
The MG10X is the MG10 with Yamaha's full SPX effects engine added — 24 programmes of reverb, delay and modulation, with a parameter control and a foot-switch jack for muting the return between songs. Four D-PRE mic channels, three stereo line channels, one-knob compressor, three-band EQ, one AUX send and a monitor output.
For a four-piece band, a church, a school hall or a rehearsal room, this is usually the right size and the right feature set. It is the cheapest MG that gives you both a proper foldback send and usable onboard reverb.

What You Get
- SPX effects, 24 programmes, with a single parameter knob for adjusting reverb time or delay, and an FC5 foot-switch jack to kill the effect return hands-free.
- Four D-PRE mic preamps on balanced combo jacks, +48V phantom power, 26 dB pad.
- One-knob compressor — threshold, ratio and make-up gain on a single control, so a vocal sits still without outboard gear.
- Three-band EQ (100 Hz / 2.5 kHz / 10 kHz, ±15 dB) and an 80 Hz high-pass filter on every mono channel.
- One AUX send and a monitor output for an independent stage or in-ear mix.
- 2.1 kg metal chassis, 244 × 71 × 294 mm, external PA-10 adapter supplied.
Reading the MG Model Names
Yamaha's MG names are a code, and once you know it the whole range makes sense at a glance:
- The number is the channel count — 06, 10, 12, 16, 20.
- X adds the SPX digital effects processor (reverbs, delays, chorus).
- U adds a USB audio interface for recording straight to a computer.
- F means channel faders instead of rotary knobs.
- K means the reverse — knobs instead of faders, for a shallower, lighter console.
So the MG10X is ten channels with effects and no USB. If you want to record the mix into a laptop without buying an interface, the MG10XU is the same desk with USB added.

FAQ
Q. What is the difference between this and the MG10XU?
Only the USB audio interface. Same preamps, same effects, same EQ, same compressor, same chassis. If you will never plug the desk into a computer, the MG10X saves you money for nothing lost.
Q. Can I change the reverb with my foot?
You can mute and unmute the effect return with an optional Yamaha FC5 foot switch — useful for killing reverb on spoken announcements between songs. Selecting a different programme is done at the desk.
Q. How many microphones can I plug in?
Four. The three stereo channels are line-level only. For six mic inputs step to the MG12 family; for ten, the MG16 family.
Q. Faders or knobs?
Knobs. The MG10XUF is the fader version of this console, and also adds USB. Knobs survive transport better; faders are quicker to ride during a show.
