The Smallest MG That Can Put Reverb on a Voice
The MG06X is the MG06 with Yamaha's SPX effects engine built in — six programmes covering reverb, delay and chorus, on a dedicated send. Everything else is identical: two D-PRE mic/line channels, two stereo line channels, balanced XLR and TRS outputs, 0.9 kg.
That one addition changes what the console is for. A bare MG06 is a utility mixer; the MG06X is a small vocal desk. For podcasting, streaming, a solo singer with a backing track, or a compact house-of-worship lectern setup, the effects are the difference between usable and flat.

What You Get
- SPX digital effects, six programmes. Yamaha's studio reverb lineage in a mixer this size — hall, room, plate-style reverbs plus delay and modulation, with a single send control per channel.
- Two D-PRE preamps. Discrete Class-A, inverted-Darlington design, shared with every console in the MG range.
- +48V phantom power and a 26 dB pad on the mono channels.
- 80 Hz high-pass filter (12 dB/oct) on both mono channels.
- Two-band EQ — 100 Hz and 10 kHz shelving.
- Balanced XLR and TRS stereo out, headphone out, metal chassis, external 12V adapter supplied. 149 × 62 × 202 mm.
Reading the MG Model Names
Yamaha's MG names are a code, and once you know it the whole range makes sense at a glance:
- The number is the channel count — 06, 10, 12, 16, 20.
- X adds the SPX digital effects processor (reverbs, delays, chorus).
- U adds a USB audio interface for recording straight to a computer.
- F means channel faders instead of rotary knobs.
- K means the reverse — knobs instead of faders, for a shallower, lighter console.
So the MG06X is six channels with effects and no USB. Note that its SPX engine carries six programmes; every larger X model carries twenty-four.

FAQ
Q. How many effects does it actually have?
Six SPX programmes. The larger X models — MG10X upward — carry twenty-four and add a foot-switch jack for muting the effect return. If you want to change reverb type between songs, buy up.
Q. Is the MG06X worth the extra over the MG06?
If a microphone is going through it for anything other than speech, yes. Dry vocals through a small PA sound thin. If you are only sub-mixing line sources or handling a meeting-room mic, save the money and take the MG06.
Q. Can I record into my laptop with it?
Not directly — there is no USB port on the MG06X. The cheapest MG with a built-in USB audio interface is the MG10XU.
Q. Is there a compressor or a separate monitor send?
Neither. The one-knob compressor and the AUX send both start at the MG10. Everything on the MG06X goes to a single stereo mix.
Q. What powers it, and can I put it on a stand?
An external Yamaha adapter, supplied. The optional BMS-10A adaptor mounts it on a standard mic stand.
