Yamaha MG06X 6-Channel Analog Mixer with SPX Effects
The Yamaha MG06X is the six-channel member of Yamaha's MG Series: two mic/line channels with Yamaha's D-PRE preamps, two stereo line channels and a built-in SPX effects engine with six reverb and delay programs. Housed in a powder-coated metal chassis, it measures just 149 × 62 × 202 mm and weighs 0.9 kg.
It is ideal wherever you need one or two microphones plus a music source and a touch of reverb to make voices sound natural: solo singers and duos with backing tracks, speakers and presenters, classrooms, meeting rooms and small places of worship. If you need more channels, AUX sends or USB audio, the larger MG models step up from here.
Key Features
D-PRE discrete Class-A mic preamps
Both mono channels use Yamaha's D-PRE preamps, built on an inverted Darlington circuit with two cascading transistors. Yamaha designed them for a wide frequency range with very low distortion, giving full lows and smooth highs, so voices and instruments need less corrective EQ.
Six SPX effects built into the MG06X
The MG06X carries Yamaha's SPX digital effects with six preset programs: Hall, Room and Plate reverbs, and Short, Long and Vocal Echo delays. Each mono channel has its own FX switch and there is a dedicated FX return level, so adding space to a voice takes seconds. The programs are fixed rather than editable, which keeps operation simple.
+48V phantom power and 26 dB PAD
Switchable +48V phantom power lets you use condenser microphones on channels 1 and 2. The 26 dB PAD on each mono channel tames hot signals, such as close-miked instruments or line-level sources, so they do not clip and distort your mix.
2-band EQ and 80 Hz high-pass filter
Each mono channel has a high EQ (10 kHz shelving) and a low EQ (100 Hz shelving), each with ±15 dB of range, for quick tonal shaping. The 80 Hz high-pass filter (12 dB/oct) removes rumble, handling noise and boominess for a cleaner, clearer mix.
Flexible inputs and balanced outputs
The two mono channels take XLR microphones or 1/4-inch line cables through combo jacks, while the two stereo line channels accept phone-jack or RCA connections for a keyboard, laptop, phone or music player. The main stereo output is available on locking XLR connectors and balanced phone jacks, plus a headphone output for monitoring.
Peak LEDs and LED level metering
A peak LED on each mono channel lights when the post-EQ signal comes within 3 dB of clipping, helping you set gain correctly. A stereo 7-segment LED meter shows the output level at a glance, from -20 dB up to the PEAK indicator.
Compact, rugged MG06X metal chassis
The MG06X is built into a powder-coated metal chassis, with knobs positioned so that knocks are taken by the chassis rather than the circuit board. At 0.9 kg it is easy to carry, and Yamaha offers the optional BMS-10A adaptor for mounting it on a mic stand.

What is the difference between the Yamaha MG06X and the MG06?
The two share the same layout: two D-PRE mic/line channels, two stereo line channels, 2-band EQ, the same size and 0.9 kg weight. The MG06X adds Yamaha's SPX effects with six reverb and delay programs; the MG06 has no built-in effects. Choose the MG06X if you will be amplifying voices.
Should I choose the MG06X or the MG10X?
The MG10X steps up to 10 channels (up to 4 mic inputs), 3-band EQ, 1-knob compressors, an AUX send and 24 editable SPX programs with foot-switch control. The MG06X suits smaller setups with one or two microphones where compact size and simplicity matter most.
Does the MG06X have USB for recording?
No. The MG06X has no USB audio interface. If you want to record or stream directly to a computer through the mixer, look at Yamaha's MG XU models such as the MG10XU or MG12XU, which include 24-bit/192 kHz USB audio.
What comes in the box with the MG06X?
You get the MG06X mixer, the AC adaptor, the Owner's Manual and the Technical Specifications sheet. The BMS-10A mic stand adaptor is an optional extra.
How is the MG06X powered, and can it run condenser microphones?
