Yamaha MG10XU 10-Channel Analogue Mixer with Effects and USB
The Yamaha MG10XU is a 10-channel analogue mixing console from the third-generation MG Series. It combines four mono mic/line channels on Yamaha's discrete Class-A D-PRE preamps and three stereo line channels with 1-knob compressors, 3-band EQ, Yamaha SPX effects and a built-in 24-bit/192 kHz USB audio interface, all in a compact metal chassis.
It suits small live setups, conference rooms and function halls, rehearsal spaces, home studios, podcasters and streamers who want a hands-on mixer that can also send a stereo mix to a computer, iPad or iPhone and play audio back from it. Bands and solo performers get onboard reverb and delay without carrying an external effects unit.
Key Features

D-PRE Discrete Class-A Mic Preamps
Each of the four mono channels uses Yamaha's D-PRE preamp, a discrete Class-A design built on an inverted Darlington circuit. Yamaha voices it for full, natural lows and smooth highs with very low distortion, so vocals and instruments need less corrective EQ later.

MG10XU USB Audio Interface
The MG10XU has a USB Audio Class 2.0 compliant, 2-in/2-out interface running at up to 24-bit/192 kHz with asynchronous transfer. Connect it to a computer, or to an iPad or iPhone using Apple's camera adapter, to record your stereo mix or stream and to bring playback audio back into a stereo channel.

SPX Digital Effects with 24 Programmes
Yamaha's SPX processor provides 24 editable effect programmes, including reverbs and delays, with a parameter control to fine-tune them. An optional FC5 foot switch can turn the effect return on and off during a performance.

1-Knob Compressors
A Yamaha-originated idea, the 1-knob compressor adjusts threshold, ratio and output level together from a single control. It is a quick way to steady a vocal, firm up a bass line or tighten a snare without learning a complex outboard unit.

3-Band EQ, High-Pass Filter and PAD
The mono channels have a 3-band EQ (100 Hz shelving, 2.5 kHz peaking and 10 kHz shelving, each plus or minus 15 dB) and an 80 Hz high-pass filter to clear away rumble. A 26 dB PAD switch and +48V phantom power let the same inputs handle hot line sources or condenser microphones.

Connections on the MG10XU
The mono inputs are XLR/phone combo jacks, two stereo channels take phone or RCA inputs, and a third stereo channel uses phone jacks. Outputs include balanced XLR and TRS stereo outs, a monitor out, an AUX/FX send and a headphone jack, and any USB source can be assigned to a stereo channel.

Rugged Metal Chassis
A powder-coated metal chassis protects the electronics, and the knobs are mounted so that knocks transfer to the chassis rather than the circuit board. At 244 x 71 x 294 mm and 2.1 kg, the MG10XU is easy to carry, and an optional BMS-10A adaptor lets you mount it on a mic stand.

Cubase AI and Cubasis LE
The MG10XU comes with download access to Steinberg's Cubase AI for recording and editing on a computer. Connect it to an iPad and you can unlock Cubasis LE from the App Store for mobile recording.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I record each channel separately into my DAW?
No. The MG10XU's USB interface is 2-in/2-out, so it sends the stereo mix to your computer and returns stereo playback. If you need separate tracks for each input, a multitrack interface such as the URX44 (18-track USB recording) is the better fit.
What is the difference between the MG10XU and the MG10X?
They share the same channel layout, D-PRE preamps, 1-knob compressors and 24-programme SPX effects, and the same 244 x 71 x 294 mm, 2.1 kg size. The MG10XU adds the 24-bit/192 kHz USB audio interface and the Cubase AI download.
Should I choose the MG10XU or the MG10XUF?
Both have the same inputs, effects and USB interface. The MG10XUF uses faders instead of rotary level knobs and is larger and heavier (275 x 110 x 390 mm, 3.3 kg), while the MG10XU is more compact at 2.1 kg.
How many microphones can I connect?
Four. The four mono channels accept microphones on combo jacks with +48V phantom power, while the three stereo channels are for line-level sources. The MG12XUK, also in the MG Series, offers six mono mic/line channels.
What's in the box?
Yamaha lists the AC adaptor, Owner's Manual, Cubase AI download information and Technical Specifications. The BMS-10A mic stand adaptor and FC5 foot switch are optional extras.
Does it work with an iPad or iPhone?
Yes. Yamaha states the MG XU models work with iPad (2 or later) and iPhone using Apple's iPad Camera Connection Kit or Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, which is sold separately.
