Two Mics, Two Stereo Sources, Nothing to Learn
The MG06 is the smallest console Yamaha makes: two mic/line channels on discrete Class-A D-PRE preamps, two stereo line channels, and a balanced stereo output. No effects, no USB, no menus — you set gain, set level, and it works.
It is the right mixer for a two-mic podcast or interview setup, a small meeting room, a keyboard-and-backing-track duo, or anywhere you need a clean, reliable front end that fits in a laptop bag. At 0.9 kg it travels without thinking about it.

What You Get
- Two D-PRE preamps. The same discrete Class-A, inverted-Darlington mic preamps used right across the MG range — not a cut-down circuit because this is the cheap one.
- +48V phantom power for condenser mics, and a 26 dB pad for hot sources.
- 80 Hz high-pass filter (12 dB/oct) on both mono channels — the fastest way to clear stage rumble and handling noise.
- Two-band EQ — 100 Hz and 10 kHz shelving. Enough to fix a dull or boomy mic, not enough to get lost in.
- Balanced XLR and TRS stereo out plus a headphone jack, so it drives a powered speaker, a PA or an interface directly.
- Metal chassis, 149 × 62 × 202 mm, external 12V adapter supplied. 12 W draw.
Reading the MG Model Names
Yamaha's MG names are a code, and once you know it the whole range makes sense at a glance:
- The number is the channel count — 06, 10, 12, 16, 20.
- X adds the SPX digital effects processor (reverbs, delays, chorus).
- U adds a USB audio interface for recording straight to a computer.
- F means channel faders instead of rotary knobs.
- K means the reverse — knobs instead of faders, for a shallower, lighter console.
So this one, the plain MG06, is six channels with no effects and no USB. If you want reverb on the vocal, the MG06X is the same console with SPX added.

FAQ
Q. Does the MG06 have reverb?
No. The MG06 has no effects processor at all. The MG06X is the identical console with Yamaha's SPX engine and six reverb/delay programmes added — if you are miking a singer, that is the one to buy.
Q. Can I record into my laptop with it?
Not directly — there is no USB port. You would take the stereo out into a separate audio interface. The cheapest MG with a built-in USB interface is the MG10XU.
Q. Is there a compressor?
No. Yamaha's one-knob compressor starts at the MG10. The MG06 also has two-band EQ — low and high shelving only — rather than the three-band EQ found further up the range.
Q. Can I send a separate monitor mix?
No — the MG06 has no AUX send and no monitor output. Everything goes to the one stereo mix. If you need a foldback wedge or in-ear feed, step up to the MG10 or above.
Q. What powers it, and can I put it on a stand?
An external Yamaha adapter, supplied in the box. The optional BMS-10A adaptor lets you mount it on a standard mic stand — useful for podcast desks and lecterns.
