Yamaha MG06 6-Channel Analog Mixing Console
The MG06 is the smallest console in Yamaha's MG range: two mic/line channels on D-PRE preamps, two stereo line channels and a balanced stereo output. There are no effects, no USB and no menus to learn - you set gain, set level and start working.
It suits a two-mic podcast or interview, a small meeting room, a singer with a backing track, or a keyboard player who needs to combine a few sources into one feed. At 0.9 kg and 149 mm wide it fits easily in a gig bag or laptop bag.

D-PRE Mic Preamps on the MG06 Mixer
Both mono channels use Yamaha's discrete Class-A D-PRE preamps, built around an inverted Darlington circuit. They are the same preamp design used across the MG range, giving clean, natural-sounding vocals and instruments with low noise (-128 dBu equivalent input noise).
Phantom Power and 26 dB Pad
A single +48V switch powers condenser microphones on channels 1 and 2. Each mono channel also has a 26 dB pad, so hot sources such as keyboards or line-level outputs can share the same combo inputs without clipping.
80 Hz High-Pass Filter and Two-Band EQ
Each mic channel has an 80 Hz, 12 dB/octave high-pass filter to clear rumble, stand thumps and handling noise. A two-band EQ with 10 kHz and 100 Hz shelving controls (+/-15 dB) lets you add clarity or warmth quickly.
Two Stereo Line Channels
Channels 3/4 and 5/6 take stereo line sources such as a keyboard, a phone, a laptop or a media player. Plug into only the L/MONO jack and a mono source is sent to both sides of the mix.
Balanced Outputs and Headphone Monitoring
The stereo output is available on both locking XLR and balanced TRS jacks, so the MG06 connects cleanly to powered speakers, an amplifier or a recorder. A headphone output with its own level control and a 7-segment stereo LED meter let you check the mix as you go.
Compact Metal Chassis for the MG06 Analog Mixer
The powder-coated metal chassis is built to handle regular travel, and the knobs are mounted so that knocks are taken by the chassis rather than the circuit board. At 149 x 62 x 202 mm and 0.9 kg, it fits on a small desk or lectern. An optional BMS-10A adaptor lets you mount it on a mic stand.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the MG06 and the MG06X?
The two share the same channels, preamps, EQ, outputs, size and weight. The MG06X adds Yamaha's SPX effects with six fixed programmes (hall, room and plate reverbs plus short, long and vocal-echo delays). Choose the MG06X if you want reverb on a voice; the MG06 if you only need clean mixing.
Should I choose the MG06 or the MG10?
The MG06 has two mic channels and two stereo line channels. The MG10 steps up to four mic channels, three stereo line channels, a three-band EQ with mid control, a 1-knob compressor on channels 1-2, an AUX send and a monitor output. If you need more than two mics or a monitor feed, go for the MG10.
What comes in the box?
Yamaha lists an AC adaptor, the Owner's Manual and the Technical Specifications sheet. Cables and the BMS-10A mic stand adaptor are not included.
Can I record to a computer with the MG06?
The MG06 has no USB audio interface. You can feed its stereo output into a separate audio interface or recorder. If you want USB recording built into the mixer, look at USB models such as the MG10XU or the AG06MK2 streaming mixer.
Does it work with condenser microphones?
Yes. The +48V phantom power switch supplies channels 1 and 2, which are the two mic inputs.
