Yamaha MG10 10-Channel Analog Mixing Console
The MG10 is the point where the MG range becomes a proper small live console. It has four mono mic/line channels on D-PRE preamps, three stereo line channels, a 1-knob compressor, three-band EQ, an AUX send and a separate monitor output - but no built-in effects or USB.
It is a sensible choice for rehearsal rooms, school halls, small churches, conference rooms and bands that already have their own reverb from pedals or keyboards. If you need a monitor feed and straightforward analog mixing, the MG10 covers it in a compact 1.9 kg chassis.
Key Features
Four D-PRE Preamps on the MG10 Mixer
Channels 1-4 use Yamaha's discrete Class-A D-PRE preamps with an inverted Darlington circuit, on balanced XLR/TRS combo jacks. A single +48V switch powers condenser mics on all four, and each has a 26 dB pad for hot line-level sources.
1-Knob Compressor
Channels 1 and 2 have Yamaha's 1-knob compressor, which adjusts threshold, ratio and make-up gain together from a single control. It keeps a vocal or an acoustic guitar under control without needing to learn a separate compressor.
Three-Band EQ and High-Pass Filter
Every channel gets a three-band EQ: 10 kHz and 100 Hz shelving with a 2.5 kHz peaking mid, each +/-15 dB. An 80 Hz high-pass filter on the mono channels removes stage rumble and handling noise before it reaches the speakers.
AUX Send and Monitor Output
One AUX send lets you build a separate mix for a stage monitor wedge or feed an external effects unit. A dedicated stereo monitor output, controlled with the headphone level, gives the operator a separate listening feed.
Three Stereo Line Channels
Channels 5/6, 7/8 and 9/10 take keyboards, drum machines, laptops and media players, so the four mic preamps stay free for vocals and acoustic instruments.
Rugged MG10 Analog Mixing Console Build
The powder-coated metal chassis, protected knob mounting and locking XLR main outputs are made for regular gigging. The console measures 244 x 71 x 294 mm and weighs 1.9 kg, runs from the supplied PA-10 adaptor and can be mounted on a mic stand with the optional BMS-10A.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the MG10, MG10X and MG10XU?
All three share the same four mic channels, three stereo line channels, compressor, EQ, outputs and chassis size. The MG10X adds Yamaha's SPX effects with 24 programmes, and the MG10XU adds the same effects plus a 24-bit/192 kHz USB audio interface. The MG10 has neither effects nor USB.
MG10 or MG06 - which one do I need?
The MG06 has two mic channels and no AUX send or monitor output. The MG10 doubles the mic channels to four and adds a compressor, a mid EQ band, an AUX send and a monitor output, so it suits small bands and events rather than just one or two speakers.
What comes in the box?
Yamaha lists an AC adaptor (PA-10), the Owner's Manual and the Technical Specifications sheet. Cables and the BMS-10A mic stand adaptor are sold separately.
Can I use the AUX send for a stage monitor?
Yes. The single AUX send can feed a powered monitor wedge so performers hear their own mix, or it can feed an external effects processor.
Can I record to a computer with the MG10?
Not directly - it has no USB audio interface. Connect its stereo output to an audio interface, or choose the MG10XU or MG10XUF, which have USB audio built in.
