Yamaha CLP-835 Clavinova Digital Piano with GrandTouch-S Keyboard
The Yamaha Clavinova CLP-835 is a console digital piano from the CLP-800 Series that pairs the GrandTouch-S keyboard with sampled Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial concert grands. Grand Expression Modeling and Virtual Resonance Modeling shape every note, and a 30 W × 2 sound system projects it into the room.
It is a strong fit for students moving beyond a first piano, teachers and families who want serious piano feel along with creative extras. Compared with the entry CLP-825, it adds rhythms, more Voices, a full-dot display, Split mode and far more capable recording.
Key Features

GrandTouch-S keyboard on the CLP-835
All 88 keys use Yamaha's GrandTouch-S action with escapement and synthetic ebony and ivory keytops that resist slipping during long practice. Six touch settings, from Soft 2 to Hard 2 plus Fixed, let you tailor the response to your hands and repertoire.
Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial Voices
The two main piano Voices come from Yamaha's flagship CFX concert grand and the Bösendorfer Imperial from Vienna, giving you a bright, powerful tone or a warmer, rounder one. With 256-note polyphony, long pedalled passages and layered sounds stay clean.

Grand Expression Modeling and VRM
Grand Expression Modeling reads the depth, speed and strength of each keystroke so tone changes the way it would on a grand. Virtual Resonance Modeling adds string, damper, duplex scaling and body resonance in real time, rewarding careful pedalling and touch.
38 Voices, rhythms and keyboard modes
Beyond the concert grands you get 38 Voices in total, including fortepiano, electric piano and organ sounds. Layer two Voices, split the keyboard, use Duo for side-by-side lessons, or play along with 20 drum-and-bass rhythms to make practice more musical.

CLP-835 digital piano speaker system
Two 16 cm speakers fitted with diffusers are driven by 30 W × 2 of amplification, spreading the sound naturally around the player. Intelligent Acoustic Control and the Stereophonic Optimizer help keep the tone balanced at lower volumes and on headphones.

GrandTouch pedals
The damper, sostenuto and soft pedals follow grand-piano geometry, with resistance that is firmer on the way down and lighter on the return. The damper supports half-pedalling, so you can practise subtle pedal control at home.

Recording, lessons and headphone practice
Record up to 16 MIDI tracks per Song or capture stereo WAV audio of up to 80 minutes to a USB flash drive. 303 lesson pieces, 50 classics, two headphone jacks and a Volume Limiter make daily practice easy for the whole family.

Bluetooth, USB audio and Smart Pianist
Stream music from a phone or tablet through the piano's speakers over Bluetooth audio, or connect wirelessly to the free Smart Pianist app via Bluetooth MIDI. The USB TO HOST port also works as a 24-bit audio interface for recording on a computer.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the CLP-835 add over the CLP-825?
The CLP-835 offers 38 Voices instead of 10, a full-dot LCD, Split mode, 20 rhythms, a 16-track recorder (the CLP-825 has 2 tracks) and WAV audio recording to USB. It also adds binaural sampling of the Bösendorfer Imperial and steps up from 20 W × 2 to 30 W × 2 amplification.
Should I choose the CLP-835 or the CLP-845?
Both share the same Voices, rhythms and recording features. The CLP-845 adds wooden white keys to its GrandTouch-S keyboard and a two-way speaker system with (45 W + 45 W) × 2 amplification, while the CLP-835 uses non-wooden GrandTouch-S keys with 30 W × 2 amplification.
Does the CLP-835 have wooden keys?
No. The CLP-835 uses the GrandTouch-S keyboard with synthetic ebony and ivory keytops and escapement, without wooden keys. Wooden white keys begin with the CLP-845 in the CLP-800 Series.
What's in the box?
Yamaha India lists the Owner’s Manual, the “50 Classical Music Masterpieces” music book, Online Member Product Registration and a bench. The PA-300C AC adaptor is a required accessory and is sold separately.
Can two people play or practise together?
Yes. Duo mode lets two players, such as a teacher and student, play side by side in the same range, and two headphone jacks let both listen privately.
Can I connect the CLP-835 to my phone or computer?
Yes. Bluetooth audio lets you play music from a smart device through the piano's speakers, and Bluetooth MIDI connects to Yamaha's Smart Pianist app. A USB TO HOST port provides MIDI and 44.1 kHz/24-bit audio to a computer.
