Yamaha FS820 Concert Acoustic Guitar

Solid Spruce Clarity. Mahogany Warmth. Compact FS Comfort.

The Yamaha FS820 combines the comfortable proportions of Yamaha’s small concert body with a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Its 380 mm body width, reduced 90–110 mm depth and 25-inch scale make it easy to hold, while its balanced voice suits fingerstyle, songwriting, chord accompaniment and everyday practice.

Yamaha’s newly developed scalloped bracing helps the solid top deliver stronger low-to-mid response without sacrificing durability. Cream body and fingerboard binding, gloss body finish and multiple colour options give the FS820 an upgraded visual presentation alongside its warm, responsive acoustic character.

Small concert body for comfortable, balanced playing

The 497 mm-long, 380 mm-wide body is easier to hold than a Traditional Western dreadnought. Its slimmer depth supports younger players, smaller frames and experienced guitarists who prefer a compact instrument for fingerstyle work.

Solid spruce top with scalloped bracing

The solid spruce soundboard offers clarity, projection and dynamic response. Yamaha’s scalloped bracing helps bring out a fuller low-to-mid range and strong acoustic resonance while maintaining structural stability.

Mahogany back and sides for warm, strong tone

Mahogany complements the spruce top with a focused midrange and warm supporting character. The combination works well for clear fingerpicked lines, vocal accompaniment and controlled rhythm playing.

25-inch scale and 43 mm nut for approachable fretting

The 634 mm scale offers a slightly more relaxed feel than longer-scale acoustics. A matte-finished nato neck, 43 mm nut and 10 mm bridge string spacing support chord work, fingerstyle and developing technique.

Cream binding and gloss finish for an upgraded appearance

Cream body and fingerboard binding frame the compact FS shape, while the gloss finish gives every colour option a polished presentation. Pickguard colour varies appropriately with the selected finish.

Purely acoustic steel-string construction

The FS820 does not include a factory pickup, preamp or line output. It is supplied as a steel-string acoustic guitar for natural, unplugged playing; an external pickup can be added separately if amplification is required.

Q. Who is the Yamaha FS820 best suited to?

It suits beginners, fingerstyle players, songwriters and experienced musicians who want a compact acoustic with a solid top, warm mahogany response and refined binding details.

Q. Does the FS820 have a solid top?

Yes. Yamaha specifies a solid spruce top with newly developed scalloped bracing, paired with mahogany back and sides.

Q. How does the FS820 differ from the FS800?

Both use a compact concert body and solid spruce top. The FS820 upgrades to mahogany back and sides and adds cream body and fingerboard binding, giving it a warmer tonal character and more refined appearance.

Q. How does the FS820 differ from the FG820?

The FS820 uses a smaller concert body, 25-inch scale and 10 mm string spacing. The FG820 uses a larger Traditional Western body, longer 25 9/16-inch scale and 11 mm spacing for broader projection and stronger rhythm support.

Q. Does the FS820 include electronics?

No. The FS820 is a purely acoustic model without a factory pickup, preamp or output. External acoustic pickups can be added separately if needed.

Yamaha lists a hex wrench as the standard accessory and no included case. YMS can help you choose a suitably sized concert-guitar gig bag or case, along with a tuner, strap, capo and spare steel strings.
