Yamaha PSR-E483 61-Key Portable Keyboard

The Yamaha PSR-E483 is a 61-key portable keyboard with touch-sensitive keys, 860 Voices and 345 auto-accompaniment Styles. Beyond the sound library, it gives you hands-on performance controls in the form of a pitch bend wheel and two Live Control Knobs, along with creative tools such as Quick Sampling, a Looper and a USB audio recorder, all in a 7 kg instrument that can also run on batteries.

It is aimed at players who have moved past the basics: home musicians, singers who want to accompany themselves, songwriters sketching ideas and performers playing small gigs, church services or functions. If you want more than a learning keyboard but do not need a full arranger workstation, the PSR-E483 sits in that sweet spot.

Key Features

Yamaha PSR-E483 keyboard sound and Voices overview

860 Voices and 345 Styles on the PSR-E483

A larger internal memory than earlier models lets the PSR-E483 carry 860 Voices, from electric pianos, organs and vibraphones to strings, along with 345 accompaniment Styles across rock, dance, jazz and many world genres. Play a chord with your left hand and the Style fills in drums, bass and chords to match. The library also covers regional sounds such as Igbo drums for Afrobeats, South American reeds and percussion, and traditional worship organs.

Super Articulation Lite feature on the Yamaha PSR-E483

Super Articulation Lite Voices

Fifteen Super Articulation Lite Voices add the small details that make non-keyboard instruments sound real, such as the scrape of guitar strings or a wind player's breath. Dedicated articulation switches on the panel let you trigger these nuances while you play, so solos sound far less like a keyboard imitation.

Motion Effect controls on the Yamaha PSR-E483 panel

DSP and Motion Effects

The effects section offers 41 DSP1 and 12 DSP2 types for shaping tone and texture, plus 57 Motion Effect types such as phasers and tremolo that add movement with a single button. A dedicated DSP button switches effects on or off instantly during a song, which is handy when you want a clean sound one moment and a processed one the next.

Pitch bend wheel and Live Control Knobs on the Yamaha PSR-E483

Pitch bend wheel and Live Control Knobs

The pitch bend wheel lets you glide between notes for convincing guitar, sax, trumpet and synth lines. Two Live Control Knobs can be assigned to different sound parameters so you can reshape a Voice in real time during a performance, without stopping to dig through menus.

Quick Sampling buttons on the Yamaha PSR-E483

Quick Sampling on the PSR-E483

Capture a short phrase of roughly 9.6 seconds from the microphone input, AUX IN, a USB audio source or a WAV file and assign it to one of four sample slots, played as a one-shot or a loop. With SYNC engaged, a sample waits for the next bar of the Style before it starts, so it always lands in time.

Looper function on the Yamaha PSR-E483

Looper and Auto Chord Play

The Looper records chord progressions, drum grooves or phrases and repeats them, leaving both hands free to improvise or practise a tricky passage. Auto Chord Play adds 100 preset chord progressions and room for 10 of your own, playing the changes automatically while a Style runs so you can concentrate on melody and soloing.

Track Control feature on the Yamaha PSR-E483

Track Control for custom accompaniment

Track Control lets you mute or bring back individual Style parts, swap the instrument on any track with Revoice, and balance track levels. You can build a breakdown or change the feel of a section without switching Styles, making the accompaniment sound more like your own arrangement.

Rear panel connections of the Yamaha PSR-E483

Mic input, line outputs and USB-C connectivity

Plug in a microphone and sing through the built-in 6 W + 6 W speakers with vocal effects, then use the L/L+R and R line outputs to feed a PA or mixer for bigger rooms. USB to Host over USB Type-C carries audio and MIDI to a computer or smart device, USB to Device saves data to a flash drive, and Mega Boost adds about 3 dB or 6 dB of extra volume.
