144 Sounds on the PSR-F52

Yamaha PSR-F52 World Voices from different regions

World Voices and Drum Kits

Among the Voices are 41 World Voices and 5 World Drum Kits, with instruments such as Indonesian gamelan gongs, the Chinese pipa, the Indian pungi and the Brazilian cavaquinho. These sounds let you play tunes from different regions with an authentic character.

158 Styles for a Virtual Backing Band

Beginner practice features on the Yamaha PSR-F52

Beginner-Friendly Practice Tools

Smart Chord lets you drive a Style with a single finger, so you can enjoy full accompaniment before learning chord shapes. Part Mute silences one hand's part of a built-in Song so you can practise it yourself, and a free Song Book with lesson videos is available from Yamaha.

Duo mode and Transpose on the Yamaha PSR-F52

Duo Mode and Transpose

Duo mode divides the keyboard in the middle so two players, such as a teacher and student or two siblings, can play together. Transpose shifts the pitch by up to 12 semitones up or down without changing what you play, which helps when accompanying singers.

Sound Boost and Panel Sustain

Sound Boost gives the overall sound extra power, useful for dance music or when you need more presence. Panel Sustain lengthens the decay of notes from a panel button, giving a sustained effect without a pedal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the Yamaha PSR-F52 suited to?

Yamaha designed the PSR-F52 for people learning to play. Its light 2.8 kg body, simple category buttons and beginner tools such as Smart Chord and Part Mute suit children, first-time players and families.

Are the keys touch-sensitive?

No. Yamaha lists touch response as not available, so notes play at the same volume however hard you press. The Yamaha PSR-E383 and PSR-I300 both offer touch-sensitive keys.

How does the PSR-F52 compare with the PSR-E283?

The PSR-E283 adds more sounds (392 Voices plus 18 Drum/SFX Kits), 122 Songs, three-step lessons, AUX IN, a sustain pedal jack and larger 12 cm speakers. The PSR-F52 is lighter at 2.8 kg against 4.0 kg and has more Styles (158 against 150), including 75 World Styles.

Can I connect a sustain pedal, phone or computer?

Yamaha lists only a DC IN socket and a stereo mini PHONES/OUTPUT jack, so there is no pedal input, AUX IN or USB port. Panel Sustain provides a sustained effect from the panel instead of a pedal.

Can the PSR-F52 run on batteries?

Yes. It runs on six AA alkaline, manganese or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries, or on a PA-130 AC adaptor or a Yamaha-recommended equivalent.

What is included in the box?

The PSR-F52 comes with a music rest and its AC adaptor, so you can start playing straight away. The Song Book is a free download from Yamaha's website.
