The Yamaha DHR15 is a 2-way, bi-amped powered loudspeaker built around a 15-inch woofer and a 1.4-inch HF compression driver. Its 1,000 W (dynamic) Class-D amplifier and Yamaha DSP sit inside a polyurea-coated plywood cabinet of the kind used in the higher-end DZR Series, and it reaches down to 44 Hz with up to 131 dB SPL.

Yamaha intends the DHR15 as a main, front-of-house speaker, so it suits bands, DJs, event companies and venues that want strong, full-range sound from a durable wooden cabinet. Rigging points and dual-angle pole sockets also make it a good choice for fixed installations.

The Class-D amplifier provides 1,000 W dynamic power, with 800 W for the woofer and 200 W for the HF driver (465 W continuous). That takes the DHR15 to a maximum of 131 dB SPL, the highest output in the DHR range alongside the DHR15M.

FIR-X tuning for clarity

Linear-phase FIR filters at the 1.8 kHz crossover optimise frequency response, phase and time alignment between the drivers at the same time. The smoother crossover gives better clarity and imaging than a typical crossover, with 24-bit converters keeping the signal clean.

D-CONTOUR for DHR15 front-of-house use

D-CONTOUR is a multi-band compressor that keeps the sound clear at every level. FOH/MAIN mode lifts the low end that is often lost when a speaker is flown or on a stand, MONITOR mode tames the lows for wedge use, and a 100 Hz or 120 Hz high-pass filter helps when adding a subwoofer.

Protection that lets it run hard

Yamaha set an optimal limiter point for each driver and amplifier combination, and the DSP monitors the power supply, amplifiers and transducers using protection functions derived from its professional power amplifiers. LIMIT and PROTECTION indicators keep you informed during the show.

Channel 1 accepts a mic or line signal through a combo jack with a MIC/LINE switch, and Channel 2 adds a combo jack plus stereo RCA inputs for a music player. The XLR output can pass Channel 1 alone or send a mix of both channels to another speaker.

Dual-angle pole sockets

Two 35 mm pole sockets let you mount the DHR15 level or tilted 7° downward. The tilt helps aim sound at the audience and away from low ceilings and other reflective surfaces for a clearer mix.

The plywood enclosure keeps unwanted vibration low and is coated in durable, scratch-resistant black polyurea. Two side handles help with transport, and three rigging points (two top, one rear) accept M10 x 30-50 mm eyebolts for installation.

No. It is a powered speaker with a built-in 1,000 W (dynamic) Class-D bi-amplifier.

Can I plug a microphone straight into it?

Yes. Input 1 is a combo jack with a MIC/LINE switch. For several microphones or instruments, use a mixer and feed its output to the speaker.

Can the DHR15 be used with a subwoofer?

Yes. Its high-pass filter can be set to 100 Hz or 120 Hz (24 dB/octave) to hand the deep bass over to a subwoofer, and the XLR output can link to further speakers.
