Yamaha LHS1455 Live Custom Hybrid Oak Snare Drum
The Yamaha LHS1455 is the 14 × 5.5-inch snare drum from the Live Custom Hybrid Oak series. Its 7-ply, 7.3 mm shell combines oak plies with a dense phenolic sheet, and it is dressed in the same premium hardware as the series: 2.3 mm Dyna Hoops, Absolute Lugs and a heavy-duty Q-type strainer, all in a dark-silver finish.
It is built for drummers who want a wood snare with plenty of attack, projection and dynamic range, whether as the main snare on a gigging kit, an upgrade over an entry-level snare or a second voice alongside a metal snare.

Oak/Phenolic Sheet Hybrid Shell
Yamaha took the hybrid shell idea from its flagship PHX and Absolute Hybrid Maple kits and applied it to oak: a dense phenolic sheet is sandwiched between oak plies. The aim is a wider dynamic range, with the attack and projection of the oak voice brought forward.
7-Ply, 7.3 mm LHS1455 Shell
The 14 × 5.5-inch shell is 7 plies and 7.3 mm thick, finished with a 45-degree / R1.5 bearing edge and a 2.7 mm snare bed.
2.3 mm Steel Dyna Hoops
Thick 2.3 mm steel Dyna Hoops with 10 holes are fitted top and bottom. Yamaha uses these heavier hoops for a tighter sound and a sharper response, and on the LHS1455 they come in a dark-silver finish to match the rest of the hardware.
Absolute Lugs with Internal Lug Lock
The shell carries Yamaha's exclusive Absolute Lugs, also in dark silver, giving the drum a refined look. Each lug includes an internal lug lock mechanism, which helps the tuning stay where you set it.
Heavy-duty Q-Type Strainer
A robust Q-type strainer on the release side, paired with a DC3-type butt side, is designed for solid, stable and smooth operation. It also makes snare tension adjustment and snare wire replacement straightforward.
SN1425H 25-Strand Snare Wire
Yamaha fits the SN1425H snare wire, with 25 strands of high-carbon steel, as standard. Together with the 2.7 mm snare bed it gives the LHS1455 its snare response straight out of the box.
Yamaha Remo Ambassador Heads Fitted
The drum comes with a Yamaha Remo Ambassador Coated batter head and a Yamaha Remo Ambassador Snare resonant head already mounted, so it is ready to tune and play.

How does the LHS1455 compare with the Stage Custom Steel SSS1455?
Both are 14 × 5.5-inch snares. The LHS1455 has a 7-ply, 7.3 mm oak/phenolic hybrid shell, 2.3 mm Dyna Hoops, Absolute Lugs, a Q-type strainer and 25-strand wire. The Stage Custom Steel SSS1455 has a 1.0 mm steel shell, 1.5 mm triple-flange hoops, one-piece lugs, a B-type strainer and 20-strand wire. Choose the LHS1455 for a wood snare with premium hardware, or the SSS1455 for an affordable steel voice.
Do the different finishes sound different?
No. Yamaha publishes a single specification for the LHS1455, so every UZU finish has the same shell, hoops, lugs, strainer, heads and snare wire. Choose the finish purely on looks.
What heads and snare wire does it come with?
It is supplied with a Yamaha Remo Ambassador Coated batter head, a Yamaha Remo Ambassador Snare resonant head and an SN1425H 25-strand high-carbon steel snare wire.
Does it include a snare stand?
No. The LHS1455 is sold as the snare drum only. A snare stand, sticks and a case are separate purchases.
Who is the LHS1455 suited to?
It suits intermediate and experienced drummers who want a projecting wood snare for live playing, rehearsals or recording, or players upgrading the snare on an existing kit. As a standard 14-inch snare it fits a regular snare stand.
