Yamaha HS3 3.5-Inch Powered Studio Monitors
The Yamaha HS3 is the most compact pair of monitors in the HS family: a 2-way powered set with a 3.5-inch woofer and 0.75-inch dome tweeter. It delivers the accurate, flat sound HS monitors are known for from cabinets just 132 mm wide.
It suits bedroom producers, students, video editors, streamers and anyone who needs trustworthy monitoring in a small space or at low volume. The pair connects to audio interfaces, mixers, laptops, phones and keyboards.
Key Features

True-to-Source Sound in a Compact Cabinet
Yamaha built the HS3 around a class-D amplifier, a resilient MDF cabinet, a 3.5-inch cone woofer and a 0.75-inch soft-dome tweeter. The goal is the HS family's flat, honest response, so what you hear on your desk translates to headphones, car stereos and other speakers.
Twisted Flare Port for Cleaner Bass
Yamaha's Twisted Flare Port reduces air turbulence noise in the bass-reflex port. The result is clearer, more accurate low end from a small speaker, which helps you judge kick drums and bass lines properly at low listening levels.

ROOM CONTROL and HIGH TRIM on the HS3
Rear-panel switches let you cut the low end by 2 or 4 dB below 500 Hz and adjust the highs by +/-2 dB above 2 kHz. Use ROOM CONTROL to tame boomy bass when the speakers sit close to a wall, and HIGH TRIM to suit a bright or dull room.
Inputs for Interfaces, Mixers and Laptops
Balanced combo XLR/TRS inputs connect audio interfaces and mixers, while RCA and 3.5 mm stereo mini inputs take laptops, phones and keyboards directly. A stereo mini to RCA cable is included, so you can start listening without buying extra leads.
Front Volume and Headphone Jack
The most-used controls sit on the front of the left speaker: a volume knob and a headphone output. You can turn down for late-night sessions or switch to headphones without reaching behind the speakers.

One Amplifier, Two Speakers
The left speaker houses the amplifier and powers the passive right speaker through the supplied 2.5 m speaker cable. That keeps the right speaker lighter and means only one power cable on your desk.

Frequently Asked Questions
HS3 or HS4: which should I choose?
The HS3 is smaller and lighter, ideal for very tight desks. The HS4 has a 4.5-inch woofer and 1-inch tweeter, reaches lower (60 Hz vs 70 Hz at -10 dB) and plays slightly louder (102 vs 100 dB SPL).
Can I connect the HS3 directly to my laptop or phone?
Yes. Use the 3.5 mm stereo mini input or the RCA inputs with the supplied stereo mini to RCA cable. For recording, an audio interface on the balanced combo inputs gives the cleanest signal.
What is in the box?
Both speakers, a 1.5 m stereo mini to RCA cable, a 2.5 m speaker cable, anti-slip pads, the Quick Start Guide and the Safety Guide.
Are these good for mixing music?
Yes, for small rooms and near-field listening. They are designed for a flat, accurate response; for deeper bass in a larger room, consider the HS5, HS7 or HS8, or add the HS8S subwoofer.
Which colours are available?
Yamaha makes the HS3 in black and white. Choose your colour in the options above.
