Yamaha offers the FX280 in Natural, Tobacco Brown Sunburst, Wood Brown and Black. Each has a gloss top with matt back and sides, black body binding, a black and white soundhole inlay and a black pickguard.

The FX280 is handcrafted in India, and Yamaha positions it as offering genuine Yamaha quality at an affordable price. Covered chrome tuners, a rosewood bridge, a urea nut and saddle and black ABS bridge pins complete the build.

How is the FX280 different from the FSX80C?
Both are handcrafted in India with a spruce top, SYSTEM68 preamp, A.R.T. one-way pickup, 634 mm scale and the same four finishes. The FX280 has the larger Traditional Western body (412 mm wide) for fuller projection, while the FSX80C has a smaller concert body (380 mm wide) with a cutaway for comfort and upper-fret access.
How does it compare with the FX400?
The FX400 also has a dreadnought-style body, but uses Yamaha's SYSTEM75 active preamp with a 4-band EQ, tuner and phase switch, and has a matt finish with no body binding. Choose the FX280 for straightforward volume and tone controls, or the FX400 if you want more tone-shaping and feedback control on stage.
Should I choose the FX280 or the FSX315C?
Both use SYSTEM68 electronics with an A.R.T. pickup. The FSX315C has a smaller concert cutaway body with a full gloss finish and cream-and-black binding, while the FX280 offers the bigger Traditional Western body and is handcrafted in India.
What comes in the box?
Yamaha includes a hex wrench and two AA batteries with the FX280. A case is not included, so we recommend adding a gig bag or case for transport.
