Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS02T Electric Guitar
The Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS02T is the P90 model of the Revstar Standard range. It shares the maple-topped chambered mahogany body, carbon-reinforced set-in neck, 5-way switching and Focus Switch of the RSS20, but swaps humbuckers for two Yamaha VP5 P90-style single-coils and adds a custom racing tailpiece.
It suits players who love the raw, chiming bite of P90 pickups for blues, garage rock, indie and roots music, and want a versatile, well-equipped guitar for gigging and recording. A deluxe gig bag is included.
Key Features
Chambered Body with Carbon-Reinforced Neck
The RSS02T pairs a maple top with a chambered mahogany back, designed using Yamaha's Acoustic Design process to sculpt tone, reduce weight and improve balance. The set-in 3-piece mahogany neck has carbon reinforcement to improve vibration transfer between neck and body.
VP5 P90-Style Pickups on the RSS02T
Two VP5 P90-type single-coil pickups, VP5n at the neck and VP5b at the bridge, are custom designed by Yamaha with Alnico V magnets. They give the RSS02T a chiming, open single-coil voice, while the Focus Switch adds a fatter option when needed.
5-Way Pickup Switching
A 5-position lever switch gives this two-pickup guitar the flexibility of a three-pickup instrument. Positions 2 and 4 slightly delay the opposite pickup, creating a subtle phase shift that offers a fresh take on classic in-between sounds.
Focus Switch Passive Boost
Pulling up the Master Tone knob engages the Focus Switch, a passive boost with an effect similar to overwound pickups: darker highs, stronger mids and lows, and a more aggressive character. It needs no battery and adds another distinct voice for solos or heavier parts.
Stainless Steel Jumbo Frets
The 12" radius rosewood fingerboard carries 22 jumbo stainless steel frets. The neck has a satin polyurethane finish, a 41.9 mm nut width and a thickness of 21.0 mm at the first fret, with a 24-3/4" (628.6 mm) scale.
Racing Tailpiece and Tune-O-Matic Bridge
The RSS02T is fitted with a distinctive custom racing tailpiece, while a Tune-O-Matic bridge allows precise intonation adjustment. Die-cast tuners, a PPS nut and a 3-ply cream pickguard complete the look.
Deluxe Gig Bag Included
Yamaha supplies the RSS02T with a deluxe gig bag, and it is strung with Elixir Nanoweb Light .010–.046 strings. Every Revstar Standard also carries Yamaha's "Revstar" hanko stamp as its seal of approval.
