Yamaha PACIFICA612VIIX Electric Guitar

The Yamaha PACIFICA612VIIX belongs to the Pacifica 600 series, the models Yamaha describes as today's take on the original Pacifica concept born in the California session scene in 1990. It combines an alder body and maple neck with Seymour Duncan pickups, a Wilkinson vibrato, Grover locking tuners and Graph Tech TUSQ parts fitted at the factory.

It is aimed at intermediate and gigging players, session and worship guitarists and home-studio users who want one HSS guitar that moves easily from clean chime to high-gain leads while staying in tune under heavy vibrato use.

Key Features

Seymour Duncan SSL-1 single-coils and TB-14 humbucker on a Yamaha Pacifica 600 series guitar

Seymour Duncan HSS Pickups on the PACIFICA612VIIX

A Seymour Duncan TB-14 "Custom 5" humbucker sits at the bridge, giving a full sound with a scooped midrange for rock rhythm and lead work. In the neck and middle positions, SSL-1 and SSL-1 RwRp single-coils deliver the bright, glassy chime associated with 1950s-style guitars.

Push-Pull Coil Split

Pull up the Master Tone knob to split the bridge humbucker and get a single-coil sound from it. Combined with the five-position lever switch, this gives you a wide choice of tones from just two knobs.

Wilkinson VS50 6 vibrato bridge with arm on a Yamaha Pacifica 600 series guitar

Wilkinson VS50 6 Vibrato

The Wilkinson VS50 6 bridge pairs precision-machined zinc saddles with hardened steel and a knife-edge baseplate. The result is a vibrato that feels responsive in the hand and returns to pitch reliably, and the arm slots straight in.

Graph Tech TUSQ nut and string tree on a Yamaha Pacifica 600 series headstock

Graph Tech TUSQ Nut and String Trees

The nut and string trees are made from Graph Tech TUSQ XL, a Teflon-impregnated material that stops strings from binding as they move. That helps tuning stay steady through wide bends and vibrato use, while also carrying string vibration into the neck for a richer sound.

Grover Locking Tuners

Grover locking machine heads clamp the string at the post to reduce slippage, which matters most on a guitar with a vibrato bridge. Yamaha chose them so you gain pitch stability without giving up quick string changes.

Alder Body and Maple Neck

The alder body is matched to a bolt-on maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, a 13-3/4 in (350 mm) radius and 22 medium frets on a 25-1/2 in (648 mm) scale. The neck measures 41.0 mm at the nut and 20.9 mm deep at the 1st fret, a comfortable size for both chords and lead playing.

Finishes of the PACIFICA612VIIX Electric Guitar

Yamaha uses a satin polyurethane finish on the body and neck of the Matte Silk Blue and Yellow Natural Satin versions, and a gloss polyurethane finish on Teal Green Metallic. Matte Silk Blue comes with a 3-ply cream pickguard, while Teal Green Metallic and Yellow Natural Satin have a 4-ply white pearloid pickguard.
