The Yamaha AG08 is the flagship of Yamaha's second-generation AG series: an 8-channel live streaming mixer with a multichannel USB-C audio interface, built-in DSP effects, a voice changer and six sound pads. It brings together everything from the smaller AG models with more flexible I/O and USB routing.

Yamaha pitches it at everything from solo talk, gaming, ASMR and voice acting to two-person shows and full variety-style streams. It also suits musicians who want to stream and multitrack-record a performance at the same time.

Two Condenser Mic Inputs and Two Headphone Outputs

CH1 and CH2 are combo inputs with +48 V phantom power, so two condenser microphones can be used at once, and CH2 doubles as a Hi-Z guitar input. Two independent headphone outputs let two presenters, or a presenter and an audio operator, monitor separately. The AG08 Controller app also lets you pan the mic channels, which suits stereo or ASMR microphones.

Three Assignable Faders for LINE or USB Sources

Channels 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 each have a LINE/USB switch, so a fader can control either an analogue line source or audio from an app on your computer, such as game sound, voice chat or background music. In the other direction, the AG08 sends separate Streaming, Voice and AUX mixes to your PC, so your streaming app and voice-chat app each get the right mix. With 8-in/14-out USB audio at 24-bit/48 kHz, ASIO software such as Cubase can also record the direct outs of each input channel on separate tracks while you stream.

60 mm Faders, Mute Buttons and FX Presets

Every input has a 60 mm fader and a mute button for confident hands-on control. Four effect preset buttons for CH1 switch instantly between your saved settings, ideal for voice acting or live music. Foot switch control has also been expanded for more versatile hands-free operation.

Voice Changer and Full DSP Effects on the AG08

CH1 gets a voice changer that can make your voice sound like a different gender, a robot and more, while CH2 has an amp simulator for guitar or bass. Gate, compressor/compander, EQ, reverb and delay can be set on each channel. A ducker automatically lowers channels 3-8 when you speak, and a maximizer adds level and tames peaks; all of it runs on the onboard DSP with no latency.

Six Customisable Sound Pads

Six sound pads trigger jingles, stings and effects in real time. Using the AG08 Controller app, you can import existing audio files to any pad, or record your own samples through the AG08's inputs and trim them in the app.

Pro Outputs and Flexible Connectivity

MONITOR outputs on both XLR and TRS feed studio monitors or a PA, and a separate MIX output on TRS sends your stereo mix to other equipment. The 4-pole mini (TRRS) jack on CH7/8 connects a smartphone for remote guests or voice chat. Yamaha says the AG08's internal circuitry delivers the highest sound quality in the AG series.

Adaptor or USB Power

The AG08 comes with a PA-150B power adaptor (DC 12 V, 1.5 A) for stable operation, and it can also run on USB-C power at 5 V, 1.5 A. A POWER SOURCE switch on the rear panel selects between them. Maximum power consumption is 7.5 W.

How does the AG08 compare with the AG06MK2?

Both have two phantom-powered combo mic inputs and a Hi-Z input on CH2. The AG08 adds two independent headphone channels, 60 mm faders and mutes on every input, three assignable LINE/USB stereo channels, six sound pads, a voice changer, delay, ducker and maximizer, XLR monitor outputs and 8-in/14-out USB audio at 48 kHz. The AG06MK2 is smaller, USB bus-powered and records 2 channels at up to 192 kHz.

Can I record each source on a separate track?

Yes. With ASIO-compatible software such as Cubase on a computer, the AG08 provides direct outs for channels 1, 2, 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 alongside its three main mixes, so you can multitrack-record while streaming. Cubase AI download information is included.

Does the AG08 need its power adaptor?

Yamaha lists two power options: the supplied PA-150B adaptor (DC 12 V, 1.5 A) or USB-C power at 5 V, 1.5 A, selected with the POWER SOURCE switch. Yamaha includes the adaptor for more stable operation, and an iPad connected through the Apple Camera Adapter needs an external USB power supply.

Which operating systems does the AG08 support?

The AG08 Controller app supports Windows 10 (64-bit) and 11, macOS 13 to macOS 26, and iPadOS. Yamaha's Steinberg USB Driver currently supports Windows 10 (64-bit) and 11, and macOS 14 to macOS 26. Android devices connect through the 4-pole mini (TRRS) jack.

What comes in the box?

Yamaha lists the PA-150B AC adaptor, a 1.5 m USB 2.0 cable, a Quick Guide, a Safety Guide and download information for Cubase AI and WaveLab Cast. Microphones and headphones are chosen separately.

Who is the AG08 best suited to?
