The Yamaha CHR12M is a 2-way passive floor monitor with a 12-inch woofer and a 1.75-inch HF compression driver in a space-saving coaxial configuration. Yamaha notes that the coaxial driver delivers precise, smooth phase and frequency response characteristics, ideal for monitoring.

It is rated at 250 W noise, 500 W program and 1,000 W peak into 8 Ω. The cabinet sits at a 57° monitor angle and uses the same plywood construction as Yamaha's high-end CZR Series, with a durable polyurea finish.

Coaxial 12-inch and 1.75-inch driver

The 12-inch woofer (2.5-inch voice coil) and the 1.75-inch compression driver on a 1-inch throat share one coaxial axis, with a 1.5 kHz crossover. This keeps the cabinet compact and the sound consistent for the performer.

57° floor monitor angle

The low-profile wedge cabinet angles sound up towards the performer at 57°. Nominal coverage is a symmetrical 90° by 90°.

Power handling and output

The CHR12M is rated at 250 W noise, 500 W program and 1,000 W peak into 8 Ω. Sensitivity is 93 dB SPL (1 W, 1 m), with a calculated peak SPL of 123 dB and a frequency range of 61 Hz–20 kHz (−10 dB).

Three parallel speakON connectors

Three speakON NL4MP connectors are wired in parallel, which gives flexible cable routing on stage.

Durable plywood cabinet

The bass-reflex enclosure is plywood with a black polyurea finish. It measures 500 x 343 x 454 mm, weighs 15.6 kg and has a side handle and a 35 mm pole socket on the side.

Q. Does it need an amplifier?

Yes. It is a passive speaker with no built-in amplifier. Yamaha states that its DSP-equipped amplifiers and other compatible signal processors have dedicated speaker processor tuning settings for the CHR Series. Our team can help you choose a suitable amplifier for its 8 Ω load.
