Yamaha MG10X 10-Channel Analog Mixing Console with SPX Effects

The MG10X is the MG10 with Yamaha's SPX digital effects added: 24 programmes covering reverbs, delays, modulation and more, with a parameter control and a foot-switch jack. Around that sit four D-PRE mic channels, three stereo line channels, a 1-knob compressor, three-band EQ, an AUX (FX) send and a monitor output.

For a four-piece band, a church, a school function, a banquet hall or a wedding sound system, it is often the right size and feature set. It suits anyone who wants polished vocals without carrying a separate effects unit, and who does not need USB recording.

SPX Effects on the MG10X Mixer

The built-in SPX processor offers 24 programmes, including hall, room, stage and plate reverbs, delays, vocal echo, chorus, flanger, phaser and pitch change. A PARAMETER knob adjusts the main setting of each programme, so you can lengthen a reverb or change a delay time quickly.

Foot-Switch Control of Effects

Connect an optional Yamaha FC5 foot switch to turn the effect return on and off hands-free. It is useful for cutting reverb between songs or while talking to the audience.

Four D-PRE Mic Preamps

Channels 1-4 use Yamaha's discrete Class-A D-PRE preamps on balanced combo jacks, with a single +48V phantom switch for condenser mics and a 26 dB pad on each mono channel for hot line sources.

1-Knob Compressor and Three-Band EQ

Channels 1 and 2 have Yamaha's 1-knob compressor, which sets threshold, ratio and gain together for steadier vocals. Each channel has a three-band EQ (10 kHz and 100 Hz shelving, 2.5 kHz peaking mid, +/-15 dB), and the mono channels add an 80 Hz high-pass filter.

AUX (FX) Send and Monitor Output

The single AUX bus feeds the internal effects and also appears at a send jack, so it can drive an external effects unit or a monitor. A separate stereo monitor output and headphone jack give the operator a listening feed.

Durable MG10X Analog Mixer Chassis

The MG10X uses a powder-coated metal chassis in grey, with protected knob mounting and locking XLR stereo outputs. It measures 244 x 71 x 294 mm, weighs 2.1 kg, runs from the PA-10 adaptor and accepts the optional BMS-10A mic stand adaptor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the MG10X and the MG10XU?

They share the same channels, preamps, compressor, EQ, 24 SPX programmes and chassis. The MG10XU adds a 24-bit/192 kHz USB audio interface for recording and playback with a computer or iPad. If you do not need USB, the MG10X does the same job for live mixing.

How is the MG10X different from the MG06X?

The MG06X has two mic channels and six fixed effect programmes, with no compressor, AUX send or monitor output. The MG10X has four mic channels, 24 adjustable SPX programmes, a compressor on channels 1-2, an AUX (FX) send and a monitor output.

What comes in the box?

Yamaha lists an AC adaptor (PA-10), the Owner's Manual and the Technical Specifications sheet. The FC5 foot switch and BMS-10A mic stand adaptor are optional extras.

Can I use the MG10X for a stage monitor and effects at the same time?

The MG10X has a single AUX bus, which also feeds the internal effects. If you need a dedicated monitor mix as well as effects, consider a larger model such as the MG12X, which has two AUX buses (including FX).

Can I record with the MG10X?

It has no USB audio interface, so you would need a separate interface or recorder connected to its outputs. The MG10XU and MG10XUF include USB audio.
