Yamaha DTX452K Electronic Drum Kit with 3-Zone Snare

The Yamaha DTX452K is the best-equipped of the three DTX402-series kits. It adds a TP70S 3-zone snare pad to the KP65 kick pad, genuine Yamaha FP6110A bass drum pedal and HH65 hi-hat controller, all run by the DTX402 module with 10 editable kits and 10 training functions.

It suits students and developing drummers who want to practise rim shots on the snare as well as real bass drum pedal technique, so their playing transfers naturally to an acoustic kit.

Key Features

Yamaha TP70S 7.5-inch 3-zone snare pad on the DTX452K

TP70S 3-Zone Snare Pad

The TP70S 7.5-inch snare pad has three zones, so you can play directly on the head or hit open and closed rim shots, each with its own sound. It brings more realistic snare articulation to your practice.

KP65 Kick Pad with FP6110A Pedal

The KP65 kick pad is played with a genuine Yamaha FP6110A bass drum pedal for smooth action and a realistic feel under your foot. The KP65 is twin-pedal compatible and big enough for a double pedal set-up.

Yamaha HH65 hi-hat controller supplied with the DTX452K

HH65 Hi-hat Controller

The quiet HH65 hi-hat controller gives open, closed, foot-close and foot-splash sounds, and lets you recreate the sound of a closing hi-hat with the pedal for more expressive hi-hat work.

Choke-able Crash and 10-inch Cymbal Pads

The DTX452K has three 7.5-inch tom pads and 10-inch hi-hat, crash and ride pads. Grab the crash pad's edge after a hit to choke the cymbal, just as you would on an acoustic kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the DTX452K differ from the DTX432K?

The difference is the snare. The DTX452K has the TP70S 7.5-inch 3-zone snare pad for head, open rim-shot and closed rim-shot sounds, while the DTX432K has a 7.5-inch snare pad. Both have the KP65 kick pad, FP6110A pedal, HH65 hi-hat controller, the same toms, cymbals and DTX402 module, and weigh 16.9 kg.

How does the DTX452K differ from the DTX402K?

The DTX402K uses a KU100 kick unit with no pedal, an HH40 hi-hat controller and a 7.5-inch snare pad, and weighs 13.9 kg. The DTX452K adds the KP65 kick pad with FP6110A pedal, the HH65 hi-hat controller and the TP70S 3-zone snare. Module, voices, kits and training functions are the same.

What do the three snare zones do?

The TP70S lets the module tell apart a hit on the head, a hit on the open-rim zone and a hit on the closed-rim zone, giving three distinct sounds: head, open rim shot and closed rim shot.

Can I use a double bass drum pedal?

Yes. Yamaha lists the KP65 kick pad as twin-pedal compatible. The kit comes with one FP6110A bass drum pedal, so a double pedal would be a separate purchase.

Can I connect it to my phone or computer?

Yes. The USB TO HOST port sends audio and MIDI over a USB cable. An iPhone or iPad also needs a Lightning USB adapter, and an Android device an OTG cable, to use the free DTX402 Touch and Rec'n'Share apps; on a computer you can record into a DAW.

What comes in the box?

Along with the rack, pads, TP70S snare, KP65 kick pad, FP6110A pedal, HH65 hi-hat controller and DTX402 module, Yamaha lists a drum key, a 9-channel snake cable, two cable bands and the owner's manual.
