Yamaha YC61 61-Key Stage Keyboard with VCM Organ and Drawbars
The Yamaha YC61 is a 61-key stage keyboard that combines a VCM Organ engine and nine physical drawbars with a Keys section of acoustic pianos, electric pianos and synth sounds. VCM Organ, AWM2 and FM tone generation provide 200 Voices, and a built-in USB audio and MIDI interface connects it to Mac, PC and iOS devices.
Its semi-weighted Waterfall keyboard is modelled on traditional organ keys, so the YC61 suits organists and gigging keyboard players who want real drawbar control in a light, compact instrument for rehearsals, church, studio work and live shows.
Key Features
VCM Organ with nine physical drawbars
The YC61's VCM Organ engine models a classic tonewheel organ in three vintages, from just out of the box to well-travelled and character-rich. Nine drawbars with real footages and ratcheting shape the tone by hand, and you can fine-tune key click, leakage and rotary speed. See-through drawbar stops with customisable LED colours make upper and lower settings easy to read in split mode.
61-key Waterfall organ keyboard
The YC61 uses a semi-weighted Waterfall keyboard with initial touch, developed from research into traditional organ keyboards and feedback from keyboard artists. It gives organists an authentic feel while still responding well to piano and synth parts.
Grand pianos, electric pianos and real FM keys
The Keys section of the YC61 includes Yamaha CFX, S700 and C7 grand piano Voices, with the Nashville C3, Live CF3 and CFX2 added through firmware updates. Tine and reed electric pianos, real eight-operator FM electric pianos, and pads, strings, synth basses, leads and brass round out 200 Voices: 10 organ and 190 keys.
FM Organ for transistor-style tones
Switch the drawbars to control eight FM operators for a pure organ sound with a strong low end. Dedicated FM Organ modes recreate classic transistor organ tones, from warm to reedy to buzzy, giving you a second organ character alongside the tonewheel sound.
Organ and two Keys sections, with Live Sets
Splits, layers and sound shaping are handled directly from the YC61's front panel, with an Organ section plus Key A and Key B. Complete setups can be saved as Live Set Sounds – 320 locations, 152 of them preset – so changing between songs on stage is quick.
Rotary speaker, amp and VCM effects
Three rotary speaker and four amp types add vintage character, including a Studio rotary profile with a wider stereo field added in a firmware update. Key A and Key B each get two insertion effects, the organ has Pre Drive, and a reverb and three-band master EQ with sweepable mid finish the sound. Yamaha's VCM technology models vintage analogue EQs, compressors and phasers at circuit level.
Light enough to carry yourself
At 7.1 kg and 896 mm wide, the YC61 is the lightest and most compact of the three YC models. It is easy to take to rehearsals and gigs, and Yamaha offers the optional SC-YC61 soft case for transport.
Stage-ready connections on the YC61
Stereo line outputs, an AUX input, headphones, MIDI In/Out, two foot controller and two foot switch jacks cover live use. The built-in USB audio and MIDI interface records audio and MIDI to a DAW on Mac, PC or iOS over a single cable.

Is the YC61 keyboard weighted?
No, it uses a semi-weighted Waterfall keyboard with initial touch, designed after traditional organ keyboards. For weighted actions, the YC73 has Yamaha's BHS action and the YC88 has the NW-GH3 natural wood graded hammer action.
Does the YC61 have real drawbars?
Yes. Nine physical drawbars with footages and ratcheting control the VCM Organ, and they also control eight FM operators when you use the FM Organ.
Can I record the YC61 into a computer?
Yes. It has a built-in USB stereo audio and MIDI interface for Mac, PC and iOS devices, so one cable carries both audio and MIDI to a DAW. It also has MIDI In/Out sockets.
What comes in the box with the YC61?
Yamaha lists the Owner's Manual and a power cord. Unlike the YC73 and YC88, it does not include an FC3A foot pedal, and stands and cases are sold separately.
How is the YC61 different from the YC73 and YC88?
