Yamaha LS6 ARE Concert Electro-Acoustic Guitar
The Yamaha LS6 ARE is a concert-style electro-acoustic guitar from Yamaha's L Series, a range offered in three body shapes (LL, LS and LJ) across several classes. It combines a solid Engelmann spruce top treated with Yamaha's A.R.E. process, rosewood back and sides, a 5-ply mahogany and rosewood neck and the passive SRT Zero Impact pickup.
Yamaha's LS body is its small-bodied, well-balanced shape: it produces a surprisingly full sound for its size yet handles quiet, delicate passages well, and Yamaha particularly recommends it for fingerstyle players. The LS6 suits singer-songwriters, fingerpickers and anyone who wants a comfortable acoustic that can plug straight into an amp or PA.
Key Features

Solid Engelmann Spruce Top with A.R.E.
A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) is Yamaha's own wood-reforming technology. By precisely controlling temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure, Yamaha shifts the wood's molecular properties towards the condition found in instruments that have been played for years. On the LS6 it is applied to a solid Engelmann spruce top, giving a more mature, played-in tone from day one.

Modified Non-Scalloped Bracing
The L Series uses a redesigned bracing pattern with modified non-scalloped braces. Yamaha says this keeps the bright tone the L Series is known for while strengthening the low end. Combined with the A.R.E. top, it gives the LS6 a more powerful, louder sound that still stays well balanced.
Compact Concert-Style LS Body
The LS6 body measures 497 mm long, 380 mm wide and 100–120 mm deep, for an overall length of 1030 mm. This smaller shape is comfortable to hold, whether seated or standing, and is especially suited to fingerpicking. It uses the same body dimensions as the LS16.
Rosewood Back and Sides
Yamaha lists rosewood for the LS6 back and sides, and describes its rosewood L Series models as offering a well-balanced tone from low to high. The body is finished in gloss with cream and black binding, an abalone, black and white soundhole inlay and a tortoise-pattern pickguard.

5-Ply Neck with a High Comfort Traditional Profile
The neck is a 5-ply laminate of mahogany and rosewood with a double-action adjustable truss rod, built for strength and stability. Yamaha re-evaluated string spacing, string height, fingerboard binding and neck taper to create its High Comfort Traditional profile for a stable grip along the whole neck. The LS6 has a 650 mm scale, a 44 mm nut, a rosewood fingerboard with a 400 mm radius and a matt neck finish.

SRT Zero Impact Pickup on the LS6 Electro-Acoustic
The LS6 is fitted with Yamaha's SRT Zero Impact system, a passive pickup configuration designed to have minimal effect on the guitar's natural tone and traditional looks. It uses an individual piezoelectric element for each string to reproduce the L Series sound faithfully. There are no onboard controls, just a LINE OUT jack for connecting to an amp, mixer or PA.
Gold Tuners, Elixir Strings and a Hard Bag
Die-cast gold TM29G tuners, a urea nut and saddle, a rosewood bridge and black ABS bridge pins with white dots complete the hardware. The LS6 comes strung with Elixir NANOWEB 80/20 Bronze Light strings, and Yamaha India lists a hard bag and a hex wrench as included.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the LS6 different from the LS16?
Both share the concert-style LS body, a solid Engelmann spruce top with A.R.E., a 5-ply mahogany and rosewood neck, gold TM29G tuners and the SRT Zero Impact pickup. The LS16 steps up to solid rosewood back and sides, an ebony fingerboard and bridge and maple and black binding. The LS6 has rosewood back and sides (not listed as solid by Yamaha), a rosewood fingerboard and bridge and cream and black binding.
Should I choose the LS6 or the LL6?
The two share the same woods, neck, hardware and pickup; the difference is the body. The LL6 uses Yamaha's round-shoulder dreadnought-style LL body (415 mm wide, 100–125 mm deep), which Yamaha associates with rich volume and a wide dynamic range. The LS6's smaller concert body (380 mm wide, 100–120 mm deep) is more compact and is Yamaha's recommendation for fingerstyle playing.
Does the LS6 need a battery?
No. The SRT Zero Impact pickup is a passive system and Yamaha lists no onboard controls, so there is nothing to power inside the guitar. You plug a standard instrument cable into the LINE OUT jack and adjust volume and tone on your amp, mixer or an external acoustic preamp.
What comes with the LS6?
Yamaha India lists a hard bag and a hex wrench as included with the LS6. The guitar comes fitted with Elixir NANOWEB 80/20 Bronze Light strings.
Which colours are available?
YMS offers the LS6 in Natural and Brown Sunburst. Both have a gloss body finish and a matt neck, with identical specifications otherwise.
Who is the LS6 best suited to?
It suits players who want a solid-top, stage-ready acoustic in a comfortable, compact body: fingerstyle players, singer-songwriters and performers who need to plug in without changing the guitar's acoustic look.
