Yamaha DM3 Standard (DM3S) Compact Digital Mixing Console

The Yamaha DM3 Standard is a compact digital mixing console with 16 mono inputs, one stereo channel and two FX returns, all running at up to 96 kHz. It packs 16 mic/line inputs, eight XLR outputs, six Mix buses, two Matrix buses and an 18-in/18-out USB audio interface into a 6.5 kg chassis controlled from a 9-inch touchscreen.

It is designed for small live venues, houses of worship, schools, corporate events, podcasters and project studios that want digital recall, routing and recording without a large console. The DM3 Standard is the non-Dante version of the DM3; choose the DM3 if you need Dante networking.

Key Features

Yamaha DM3 Standard digital mixer top panel with 9-inch touchscreen and nine faders

9-Inch Touchscreen with Touch and Turn Control

Most operations on the DM3 Standard run from a 9-inch multi-touch screen and a single Touch and Turn knob: touch a parameter, then turn to adjust it. Eight channel faders and a main fader give hands-on level control, and a Guest login can limit operations for less experienced users.

Yamaha DM3 Standard rear panel with 16 XLR and combo inputs, 8 XLR outputs, USB and network ports

16 Inputs, 8 Outputs and Flexible Patching

The rear panel offers 12 XLR inputs, four XLR/TRS combo inputs and eight XLR omni outputs. Inputs and outputs can be freely re-patched, which makes it easy to adapt the same console to a band, a conference or a streaming setup.

6 Mix Buses, 2 Matrices and 96 kHz Sound

Six Mix buses cover monitor wedges or in-ear mixes, while two Matrix buses with input-to-matrix support feed fills, delays or a separate stream mix. The console runs at 48 kHz or 96 kHz with less than 1.3 ms of signal delay from input to omni output at 96 kHz.

Two Effects Processors with 18 Effect Types

Two multi-effects processors offer 18 high-grade effect types, including Yamaha's REV HD and REV R3 reverbs. You can run reverb and delay together without outboard gear, keeping the setup compact.

QuickPro Presets and Scene Presets

More than 200 QuickPro input presets, developed with leading microphone and in-ear manufacturers, give you a strong starting sound for vocals, drums and instruments. Ready-made scene presets for podcasting, recording, bands, worship services, corporate events and more speed up setup further.

USB flash drive connected to the front USB port of a Yamaha DM3 Series mixer for two-track recording

Multitrack Recording and Live Streaming over USB

USB to Host provides 18 recording and 18 playback channels with a PC or Mac, and the bundled Cubase AI download lets you start recording right away. For quick archives, the front USB port records and plays back two-track audio on a USB stick, hard disk or SSD.

Remote Control and Offline Editing

DM3 Editor lets you prepare a show on a computer before reaching the venue, DM3 StageMix controls the mix from the stage, and MonitorMix lets performers set their own monitor levels. OSC over Ethernet and MIDI over USB are also supported for external control.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the DM3 Standard and the DM3?

Both share the same mixing capacity, local I/O, touchscreen, effects and USB audio. The DM3 adds Dante networking with 16 inputs and 16 outputs on primary/secondary etherCON ports; the DM3 Standard has no Dante.

Can I record every channel separately?

Yes. USB to Host supports 18-track recording and 18-track playback with a computer, which is enough for all 16 inputs plus a stereo mix. Two-track recording to a USB storage device is also available.

Is the DM3 Standard a good upgrade from an analog MG mixer?

If you want scene recall, built-in effects with more depth, more monitor mixes and multitrack USB recording in a smaller footprint, yes. Analog MG consoles remain simpler if you prefer one knob per function.

What comes in the box?

Yamaha lists the Owner's Manual, power adaptor and download information for Cubase AI and VST Rack Elements. The RK-DM3 rack-mount kit is optional.

How is it powered?

It runs from the supplied PA-L500 power adaptor (DC 24 V / 2.5 A, 100-240 V) through a 4-pin XLR DC input, with a power consumption of 43 W.
