The DM3, with Dante on Board
The Yamaha DM3 is the Dante-equipped member of the DM3 Series: 16 mono inputs, one stereo channel and two FX returns in a 6.5 kg console, with 16 local mic/line inputs, eight XLR outputs, six Mix buses, two Matrix buses, an 18-in/18-out USB interface and a 9-inch multi-touch screen with 8+1 motorised faders.
What the DM3S cannot do is join a network. This console adds 16-in/16-out Dante on Primary and Secondary etherCON ports, so it can take its inputs from a stagebox at the other end of a Cat5e run, share sources with other Dante devices, or feed a networked recording rig — without adding an interface card or a converter.

Three Reasons to Take the Dante Model
1. The Stage Moves Away from the Desk
With a Dante stagebox, one Cat5e cable replaces a multicore. Inputs stay at the stage end where the microphones are, and the console sits wherever the engineer needs to be, without a snake to run, coil or repair.
2. Redundancy That Analog Cannot Offer
Primary and Secondary ports allow a redundant network topology, so a single cable or switch failure does not have to end the show. For fixed installs and broadcast work this is often the deciding factor.
3. It Shares Audio with the Rest of the System
Sources can be passed to and from other Dante devices on the same network - a second console, a recorder, a processor or a streaming machine - without patching analog cables between them.
If your system stays inside the console's own I/O and a USB cable, the DM3S gives you the same desk for less. The moment a stagebox or a networked device enters the plan, this is the model you need.

Q. What is the difference between the DM3 and the DM3S?
Dante, and nothing else. This console has 16-in/16-out Dante on Primary and Secondary etherCON ports; the DM3S does not. Mixing capacity, local analog I/O, screen, faders, effects, USB interface, dimensions and weight are identical.
Q. Do I need Dante if I already have enough inputs on the back?
Not necessarily. Dante earns its money when the microphones are a long way from the console, when you want redundancy, or when audio has to be shared with other devices on a network. If your inputs plug straight into the desk and stay there, the DM3S does the same job.
Q. Can it record multitrack?
Yes. Connect a PC or Mac over USB for 18-track recording and 18-track playback, or capture over the Dante network with a Dante-enabled recording system. The front USB storage port handles simpler two-track recording and playback.
Q. Can I control it from an iPad or prepare a show offline?
Yes. DM3 StageMix supports wireless mixing from an iPad, while DM3 Editor supports offline preparation and detailed console control from a computer. Network hardware and compatible devices are required.
Q. Can the DM3 be rack-mounted?
Yes, with the optional Yamaha RK-DM3 rack-mount kit. The console measures 320 mm wide, 140 mm high and 455 mm deep, and weighs 6.5 kg.
Q. What comes with it?
