The Yamaha TRBX174 is the entry model of the TRBX range, a full-scale four-string bass with a mahogany body, bolt-on maple neck and 24-fret rosewood fingerboard. It pairs a split single-coil neck pickup with a single-coil bridge pickup, controlled by two volumes and a master tone.

The bolt-on maple neck has a satin polyurethane finish and a rosewood fingerboard with a 10" (250 mm) radius and 24 medium frets. That gives two full octaves on every string, with a nut width of 40 mm and 19 mm string spacing at the bridge.
