The Yamaha F400 is a full-size steel-string acoustic guitar from the F400 Series, part of Yamaha's long-running F Series. The F400 is the largest of the three F400 Series guitars, using a traditional western (dreadnought-style) body 412 mm wide, 505 mm long and 96–116 mm deep. Yamaha designed it for a full, rich sound, and it is especially suited to strumming and flatpicking. It is the natural pick if you mainly play chords and accompany singing.

The F400 pairs a spruce top with locally sourced tonewood back and sides. Yamaha combines this with carefully designed bracing and an ultra-thin polyurethane finish to help the body resonate freely. The result is a clear, lively acoustic voice for practice and playing with friends.
Clean Look with No Pickguard or Binding
Yamaha gave the F400 a deliberately simple design: there is no pickguard and no body binding, so you see and feel the texture of the wood. A brown or white soundhole inlay, depending on the finish, is the only decoration. It is a modern, understated guitar that looks at home anywhere.
Comfortable 25" Scale and 43 mm Nut
The F400 has a 634 mm (25") scale, a little shorter than many full-size steel-string guitars, along with a 43 mm (1 11/16") nut. String spacing at the bridge is a narrower 10.0 mm, which Yamaha says adds to playing comfort. Together they make chord shapes and stretches more manageable, particularly for newer players.
Matt Neck and Rosewood Fingerboard
The neck has a matt finish that keeps your hand moving smoothly during chord changes, and the fingerboard and bridge are rosewood. The fingerboard has a 400 mm (15 3/4") radius. Covered chrome TM-14P tuners, a urea nut and saddle, and black ABS bridge pins complete the hardware.
