Yamaha CK88 88-Key Stage Keyboard with Weighted GHS Action

The Yamaha CK88 is an 88-key stage keyboard that pairs a weighted Graded Hammer Standard action with piano, electric piano, organ and synth sounds drawn from Yamaha's CP and YC series. Three Parts, nine drawbars and dedicated synth and effect controls are all on the front panel.

With built-in speakers, battery operation, a mic or instrument input and USB audio/MIDI, it suits pianists who gig, rehearse, teach, lead worship or record and want a full-size weighted keyboard that is not tied to a studio.

Key Features

Yamaha concert grand piano on stage, one of the instruments behind the CK88 piano voices

Concert Grand and Vintage Keys in the CK88

Piano voices come from Yamaha's CFX, S700 and CF3 grands and the U1 upright, with Digi Piano sounds alongside. Reed and tine electric pianos, Clavi and 80s DX7-style FM electric pianos cover classic keyboard parts without extra gear.

Organ Section with Nine Drawbars

Based on the Yamaha reface YC, the organ section offers five organ types and nine physical drawbars. Rotary speaker, percussion and vibrato/chorus each have their own controls, so you can shape the organ sound without menus.

88-Key GHS Weighted Action

The CK88 uses Yamaha's Graded Hammer Standard keyboard with matte black keytops. The weighted, graded action gives pianists a familiar feel across the full 88-key range, on stage or at home.

Built-in speakers and battery compartment of the Yamaha CK88

Built-in Speakers and Battery Power

Two 6 W amplifiers drive a pair of switchable 12 × 6 cm speakers, so the CK88 can be heard without an external amp. Eight AA batteries give up to 4.5 hours on rechargeables or 3 hours on alkalines, letting you play away from a power socket.

Three Parts and Live Sets

Split, layer and mix up to three Parts directly from the CK88 front panel. Save splits, layers, effects, A/D input settings and LED colour as a Live Set, with 160 Live Set Sounds (80 preset) for quick recall during a performance.

Hands-on Synth Controls and Effects

Dedicated filter and EG controls, Mono and Unison switches let you shape synth sounds in real time. Drive (5 types) and two effect units (36 types each) add chorus, phaser, wah, slicer and more, finished by master delay, reverb and a 3-band EQ.

Recording the Yamaha CK88 on a computer over USB

USB Audio and MIDI on the CK88 Stage Keyboard

A built-in stereo USB audio interface (44.1 kHz, 2 in/2 out) connects to a computer or iOS device for recording. USB MIDI, 5-pin MIDI In/Out and four-zone MIDI Master let the keyboard control external hardware and software instruments.

Streaming audio from a phone to the Yamaha CK88 over Bluetooth

Bluetooth Audio Input

Stream backing tracks or reference songs from your phone over Bluetooth and play along through the built-in speakers. Yamaha notes that Bluetooth may not be available in every country.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the CK88 different from the CK61?

Both share the same 363 voices, three Parts, effects, speakers and connections. The CK88 has 88 weighted GHS keys and weighs 13.1 kg, while the CK61 has 61 FSB keys and weighs 5.6 kg.

Is the CK88 a good choice for pianists?

Yes, if you want a weighted 88-key GHS action plus organ, synth and stage controls in one instrument. Players who mainly need organ and synth parts and want something lighter may prefer the 5.6 kg CK61.

Can I connect a microphone or guitar to the CK88?

Yes. The CK88 has stereo A/D inputs on 6.3 mm jacks that accept a mic or instrument, with two dedicated effects. The input can also be sent to a computer through the built-in USB audio interface, and its settings can be stored in a Live Set.

What comes in the box with the CK88?

Yamaha lists an AC adaptor and Owner's Manual, noting they may be included depending on locale. Batteries are not included, and the soft case is sold separately.

Can the CK88 run on batteries?

Yes. It takes eight AA alkaline or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries, giving up to 4.5 hours with rechargeables or up to 3 hours with alkalines. It can also run from the PA-150B adaptor (DC 12 V, 1.5 A).

Can the CK88 control other keyboards or software?

Yes. MIDI Master provides four zones for external MIDI devices, and the instrument has USB MIDI plus 5-pin MIDI In and Out. You can set splits, octaves and patch changes for those zones.
