Yamaha YCM01 Studio Condenser Microphone
The Yamaha YCM01 is a studio-quality condenser microphone with a cardioid pickup pattern and an XLR output. Inside is a side-address back electret condenser capsule with a 30 Hz–20 kHz frequency response, built to capture the detail of voices and instruments clearly.
Yamaha designed the YCM01 for a wide range of uses, from live streaming and gaming voice chat to online meetings and music production. It pairs naturally with Yamaha's AG Series streaming mixers, which supply the +48 V phantom power it needs, and its distinctive styling looks smart on camera in black or white.
Key Features
Studio-Quality YCM01 Condenser Capsule
The YCM01 uses a back electret condenser unit, the type of microphone favoured in studios and broadcast rooms for picking up fine detail. Its 30 Hz–20 kHz frequency response covers the full range of speech and singing. That makes your voice sound clearer and more natural than a typical headset or built-in laptop mic.
Cardioid Pattern for Focused Sound
The cardioid polar pattern is most sensitive to sound arriving directly in front of the microphone. Sound from the sides and rear is picked up far less, so room noise is reduced. Simply speak or sing towards the front of the YCM01 to keep the focus on your performance.

XLR Output with +48 V Phantom Power
The YCM01 connects to a mixer or audio interface with a standard XLR microphone cable. As a condenser microphone, it needs +48 V phantom power to operate. Any mic input that provides +48 V phantom power, such as those on the Yamaha AG03MK2, AG06MK2 and AG08, can run it.
130 dB Maximum Input SPL
The YCM01 handles sound pressure levels up to 130 dB SPL (1.0% THD at 1 kHz). That gives it plenty of headroom for loud singing and close-miked acoustic instruments as well as everyday speech. Its sensitivity is 14.1 mV/Pa (-37 dBV ±3 dB at 1 kHz).

Flexible Mounting with the Supplied Stand Adaptor
Yamaha includes a microphone stand adaptor with a 5/8-inch to 3/8-inch threaded adapter already fitted. According to Yamaha, the YCM01 can be mounted on a tabletop stand, a standard microphone stand or a desk arm. A pouch is also supplied for storage.
Compact Side-Address Design
The YCM01 is a side-address microphone, so you speak into the side of the body rather than the top. It measures Ø55 × 166 mm and weighs 0.4 kg (microphone only), so it sits neatly on a desk without crowding your screen or keyboard.

Black or White to Match Your Setup
Yamaha makes the YCM01 in black and white versions, and YMS offers both. The iconic, stylish design adds a professional look to a streaming desk or home studio. Choose the finish that matches your AG mixer and the rest of your gear.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the YCM01 need phantom power?
Yes. Yamaha's technical specifications list +48 V phantom power as the power requirement, and the owner's manual asks you to connect it to a mic input that supports phantom power. It cannot be plugged straight into a computer's USB port; it needs a mixer or audio interface with an XLR mic input.
Will the YCM01 work with Yamaha AG mixers?
Yes. The AG03MK2 has one combo input with +48 V phantom power, while the AG06MK2 and AG08 each have two. The YCM01 is also the microphone Yamaha includes in the AG03MK2 LSPK Live Streaming Pack.
Should I buy the YCM01 or the AG01?
The AG01 is a USB microphone with a built-in mixer, headphone output and DSP effects, so it connects directly to a computer or phone with no separate interface. The YCM01 is an XLR condenser microphone that needs a mixer or interface with phantom power, which makes it the more flexible choice if you are building a setup around an AG03MK2, AG06MK2 or AG08.
Should I buy the YCM01 on its own or the AG03MK2 LSPK pack?
The LSPK pack combines an AG03MK2 mixer, a YCM01 microphone, YH-MT1 headphones and a 3 m XLR cable, which suits someone starting from scratch. If you already own a mixer or interface with phantom power, or want to add a second mic to an AG06MK2 or AG08, the YCM01 on its own is all you need.
What comes in the box?
Yamaha lists a microphone stand adaptor (with a 5/8-inch to 3/8-inch threaded adapter already attached), a microphone pouch, the owner's manual and the technical specifications. An XLR cable and a microphone stand are not listed, so plan to add them if you don't already have them.
Who is the YCM01 for?
Yamaha positions it for live streamers, gamers using voice chat, people joining remote meetings and musicians recording vocals or instruments. It is a good step up for anyone who wants clearer, more focused sound than a headset or built-in microphone can give.
