Yamaha DXS15XLF Powered Subwoofer
The Yamaha DXS15XLF is a powered, bass-reflex subwoofer with a 15-inch woofer and a 1,600 W (dynamic) Class-D amplifier module. It covers 33 Hz to 150 Hz, reaches 136 dB SPL, and runs its processing at 96 kHz, the same high-resolution platform used in Yamaha's DZR full-range speakers.
Yamaha designed the DXS XLF subwoofers to sit under DZR speakers, so this model is aimed at bands, DJs, rental companies and venues that want a serious low-end extension for their PA. Its LCD-based DSP, cardioid capability and road-ready plywood cabinet make it equally useful for touring rigs and permanent installs.

1,600 W Class-D power for the DXS15XLF
A high-power Class-D amplifier module is rated at 1,600 W dynamic, 1,300 W burst (20 ms) and 1,200 W continuous. That reserve lets the DXS15XLF add weight and impact beneath a full-range system without running out of headroom at high levels.
Custom 15-inch transducer
Yamaha's own 15-inch woofer uses a 4-inch voice coil on a durable die-cast aluminium frame. A dual damper keeps the cone movement linear by curbing unwanted vibration at extreme levels, helping the bass stay tight and controlled.
Extended low end down to 33 Hz
A bass-reflex cabinet with a wide, flared port helps the DXS15XLF reach down to 33 Hz (-10 dB) with a maximum output of 136 dB SPL at 1 m. The result is deep, clear bass for live music, DJ sets and events, even when the volume is high.
96 kHz DSP with LCD control
Internal processing and the A/D and D/A converters run at 96 kHz for high-resolution sound with very low latency, and the subwoofer uses dynamic EQ. Using the LCD you can load presets or fine-tune PEQ, delay and routing, and settings can be stored to or loaded from USB memory via the USB 2.0 host port.
D-XSUB bass processing
Onboard D-XSUB processing offers three characters: NORMAL for balanced low end, BOOST for tighter, punchier bass, and XTENDED LF to push the extension even deeper. You can match the bass to the music style or the room in a few button presses.
Cardioid mode for a cleaner stage
With two or more DXS XLF subwoofers, cardioid mode reduces the low-frequency pressure that spills back onto the stage while directing more bass towards the audience. Performers get a cleaner monitoring environment and the front-of-house mix is easier to control.
Flexible analogue connections
Two XLR/TRS combo inputs accept line-level signals up to +24 dBu. Two XLR outputs can each be set to pass the input straight through or to send the DSP-processed signal on to your full-range speakers.
Road-ready plywood cabinet
The plywood enclosure is finished in a tough polyurea coating that resists scratches, bumps and harsh weather. Two die-cast aluminium side handles make it easier to lift, and the 35 mm pole socket with an M20 thread accepts a speaker pole for a full-range top.

Does the DXS15XLF need an external amplifier?
No. It has a built-in Class-D amplifier module rated at 1,600 W dynamic power. Feed it a line-level signal from a mixer and it is ready to play.
Which full-range speakers does the DXS15XLF suit?
Yamaha describes the DXS XLF subwoofers as ideally suited to its DZR full-range speakers, such as the DZR10, DZR12 and DZR15. Like the DZR range, it uses 96 kHz processing and an LCD-based DSP interface. For other speakers, ask our team to check the system match.
Can I plug a microphone straight into it?
No. Yamaha specifies line-level inputs (up to +24 dBu), so connect microphones and instruments to a mixer first, then send the mixer output to the subwoofer and use its XLR outputs to feed your full-range speakers.
Can I use cardioid mode with one subwoofer?
No. Yamaha's cardioid mode is designed for setups of two or more DXS XLF subwoofers, where it cuts low-frequency spill on stage and directs more bass towards the audience.
Is the DXS15XLF the same as the DXS15XLF-D?
No. The DXS15XLF-D adds Dante network audio (2 in / 2 out on etherCON). The DXS15XLF has analogue inputs and outputs plus a USB 2.0 host port, with the same 1,600 W amplifier, 33 Hz–150 Hz range and 136 dB maximum output.
Are a cover and wheels included?
No. Yamaha lists the SPCVR-DXS15X speaker cover and the SPW-1 wheel kit as optional accessories, sold separately.
