The Yamaha DXS15XLF is a 15-inch powered bass-reflex subwoofer from Yamaha’s DXS XLF series. A 1,600 W (dynamic) Class-D amplifier module drives a 15-inch cone with a 4-inch voice coil, covering 33 Hz–150 Hz and reaching a maximum output level of 136 dB SPL (measured peak with pink noise at 1 m).

Yamaha describes the DXS XLF series as ideally suited to its DZR full-range loudspeakers, and like the DZR series it uses 96 kHz DSP with LCD control. A polyurea-coated plywood cabinet, die-cast aluminium side handles and a 35 mm pole socket make it practical for live production, events and installed systems.

1,600 W Class-D amplifier module

Yamaha rates the amplifier at 1,600 W dynamic, 1,300 W burst (20 ms) and 1,200 W continuous power. This gives the subwoofer the headroom to add weight and impact under a full-range system at high levels.

15-inch woofer with a 4-inch voice coil

The 15-inch cone uses a 4-inch voice coil and a ferrite magnet in a bass-reflex enclosure. The specified frequency range of 33 Hz–150 Hz (-10 dB) and 136 dB maximum SPL suit live music, DJ playback and event sound.

96 kHz DSP with LCD control

Internal processing and A/D–D/A conversion run at 96 kHz. From the LCD you can load presets or adjust PEQ, delay and routing, and the subwoofer offers Yamaha’s D-XSUB processing and cardioid mode capability.

Flexible line-level inputs and outputs

Two XLR/TRS combo inputs accept line-level signals up to +24 dBu. Two XLR outputs can each be set to pass the input signal through or send the DSP-processed output to your full-range speakers, and a USB 2.0 host port is also provided.

Plywood cabinet built for the road and installs

The plywood enclosure has a durable polyurea coating and two die-cast aluminium side handles. A 35 mm pole socket with an M20 thread accepts a compatible speaker pole, and the cabinet measures 450 × 587 × 600 mm (W × H × D) and weighs 40.0 kg.

Q. Does the DXS15XLF need an external amplifier?

No. It is a powered subwoofer with a built-in 1,600 W (dynamic) Class-D amplifier module. You only need to feed it a line-level signal from a mixer or other source.

Q. Which full-range speakers does it pair with?

Yamaha states the DXS XLF series is suited to use with its DZR full-range loudspeakers. For other speakers, talk to our team so we can check the system match before you buy.

Q. Can I connect a microphone directly?

No. Yamaha specifies line-level inputs, so microphones and instruments should go through a mixer first. Connect the mixer output to the subwoofer and use its XLR outputs to feed the full-range speakers.

Q. Are a cover or wheels included?

No. Yamaha lists the SPCVR-DXS15X cover and SPW-1 caster kit as optional accessories, sold separately. This listing is the analogue DXS15XLF, not the Dante-equipped DXS15XLF-D.
