Yamaha U3 Professional Upright Acoustic Piano – Polished Ebony with Bench

The Tallest U Series Upright – Greater Power, Projection and Expressive Control

The Yamaha U3 is the tallest and most distinguished model in Yamaha’s U Series of professional upright pianos. At 131 cm high, its larger soundboard and acoustic chamber give it extended power and projection compared with the 121 cm U1, while retaining the warm, solid sound and stable playability the U Series is known for.

This listing is the U3 in a polished ebony finish, supplied with a matching piano bench. It suits advancing students, teachers, music schools and homes that want a full-size acoustic upright with the depth and dynamic range for demanding repertoire. Delivery, installation and tuning are included.

The tallest model in the U Series at 131 cm

The U3 stands 131 cm high, 153 cm wide and 65 cm deep, and weighs 246 kg. Its height allows an expansive soundboard and acoustic chamber, which Yamaha credits with the U3’s extended power and projection.

Spruce soundboard with a hard maple bridge

Yamaha specifies a spruce soundboard and a hard maple bridge for the U3. Together they turn string vibration into a full, resonant tone with the warmth associated with the U Series.

V-Pro plate and metal action rail

A V-Pro plate supports the strings’ high tension, while a metal action rail gives the action a stable base. Yamaha also seasons its pianos for their destination climate, supporting tuning stability and long-term reliability.

88 keys with durable resin surfaces

The full 88-note keyboard uses acrylic resin white-key surfaces and phenolic resin black-key surfaces. Yamaha’s upright action gives the control over articulation and dynamics that serious study and teaching require.

Damper, muffler and soft pedals

The damper pedal sustains notes, the soft pedal softens the tone, and the centre muffler pedal lowers the volume substantially for quieter practice at home.

Soft-close fallboard and polished ebony cabinet

A soft-close mechanism lowers the key cover gently, protecting fingers and keys. The polished ebony cabinet and extra-wide music desk complete a classic, professional instrument.

Q. Who is the Yamaha U3 best suited to?

It suits advancing and experienced pianists, teachers, music schools and families who want a professional full-size upright with greater power and projection than a smaller model.

Q. How does the U3 differ from the U1?

The U3 is 131 cm high against the U1’s 121 cm, 65 cm deep against 62 cm, and weighs 246 kg against 228 kg. The taller cabinet and larger soundboard give the U3 more power and projection.
