Yamaha B10 Upright Acoustic Piano

The Yamaha B10 is the most compact acoustic upright in Yamaha's current B Series, standing 110 cm high. It brings B Series Special hammers, a redesigned soundboard with five back posts, a precision Yamaha action and a V-Pro frame together in a polished ebony cabinet.

It is made for homes and apartments where floor space matters, and for beginners, children and returning players who want the touch and sound of a real acoustic piano. A wide music stand and soft-close fallboard make it easy to live with every day.

Key Features

Compact 110 cm B10 Upright

The B10 measures 110 cm high, 150 cm wide and 55 cm deep and weighs 200 kg, making it the smallest of the three B Series uprights. You still get a full 88-key keyboard with acrylic resin white keys and phenolic resin black keys.

The hammer felt is processed using a method Yamaha derived from its flagship CFX concert grand, making the most of the felt's natural elasticity. The result is a clear, pure tone with a resonant sustain, so melodies and inner voices sound distinct in every register.

Redesigned Soundboard with Five Back Posts

Yamaha redesigned the B Series soundboard to give a clear, spacious sound from a compact cabinet, with a full bass that supports melody and harmony. Five back posts help the soundboard keep its curved crown under string tension, which protects the resonance over the years.

Precision Action Made In-House

Each key of an upright action uses more than 60 parts, and Yamaha makes all of them itself, machining each one to a tolerance of 0.05 mm before skilled assembly. That means a smooth, dependable touch, and straightforward part replacement if servicing is ever needed.

V-Pro Frame from Yamaha's Own Foundry

The frame has to hold more than twenty tons of total string tension and also shapes the sound. Yamaha casts its frames in a dedicated factory using the vacuum process, a technique it pioneered for piano frames, for consistent quality from one piano to the next.

Full-Length Wide Music Stand

The music stand runs the full length of the fallboard, so you can spread out several scores or long unfolded sheets without turning pages. Its deep top surface is lined with non-slip fine artificial leather to keep thick books steady.

Soft-Close Fallboard

A soft-close mechanism lowers the key cover slowly and gently, helping to protect players' hands and making the piano easier to live with in a busy home or teaching room.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Yamaha B10 compare with the B20?

Both share B Series Special hammers, a V-Pro frame, five back posts, a soft-close fallboard and three pedals. The B10 is 6 cm shorter, 3 cm narrower, 3 cm shallower and 20 kg lighter than the 116 cm B20, so it suits tighter spaces.

How does the B10 compare with the B30?

The B30 is the 121 cm standard-height model of the B Series, 153 cm wide, 62 cm deep and 232 kg. The B10 is 11 cm shorter and 32 kg lighter, for rooms where a full-height upright would feel too large.

Which pedals does the B10 have?

It has three pedals: damper, muffler and soft. The muffler pedal lets you practise at a lower volume.

Is this a SILENT Piano or TransAcoustic model?

No. This is the standard acoustic B10 with no electronic functions. Yamaha also builds SILENT Piano and TransAcoustic versions of the B Series, which are separate models with their own model names.

Is the B10 suitable for serious piano study?

Yes. It has a full 88-key acoustic keyboard and a Yamaha action built from parts made in-house to tight tolerances, so students can develop real acoustic touch and dynamics. Players who want a larger instrument can look at the B20, B30 or U Series.
